The city of Järvenpää at 35km from Helsinki is hosting these first few days of the ENFO Meeting at Finland. More than 140 people including members of the three orchestras (TRADALP, FBB and Sondeseu) are enjoying the Sibelius Academy facilities at Kalio-Kuninkala resort.
So far we had the opportunity to watch the Academy Finnish Big Band at its full and Josh Dickson from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland playing in the concert hall at Kallio-Kuninkala as the opening concert of the meeting.
With the development of the workshops and master classes that took place during the day, the international musicians learnt, practise and shared musical knowledge. The workshops proved to be a great success promoting inter-cultural dialogue among the musicians.
In parallel with the workshops the ENFO work meeting took place in one of the buildings of Kallio-Kuninkala with the presence of the Head of the Folk Department of the Sibelius Academy Mr. Hannu Saha who also gave a welcoming speech for all the people that were attending the meeting. The partners talked about the promising future ahead of ENFO and the development of the network itself. One of the key points of the meeting was the set up of the activities that will take place in the 1st ENFO Conference to be celebrated in Vigo in March 2012.
Last night we enjoyed the concerts of the TRADALP Orchestra and Sondeseu Orchestra. The ENFO members are saying goodbye to Järvenpää heading today to Helsinki where we will have the pleasure to present the ENFO network to the audience in the beautiful New Music Centre of the Sibelius Academy in a special night with the three Orchestras playing together.
